While I am continuously adding/editing my lesson plans, this section will always be a “work in progress.”
Every lesson in this section meets CCSS (9-12) with objectives and are differentiated to meet student-needs. I usually start with The Pyramid of Hate which gives an in-depth look at intersectional problems; this is part of SEL (social emotional learning). Speaking of intersectional….I then talk about The Intersectional Diversity Flower where racism is placed in the middle of the “flower.” The flower was created by Ayva Thomas who is the Assistant Director of Racial and Educational Justice (REJ) at the Northshore School District (I was part of the REJ equity team through one of the middle schools). From there, lessons are executed with content-related topics/issues while reading a book.
Should you use any of these lessons, you are more than welcome to adjust according to the needs of your class(es). Navigate throughout the website and let me know what your thoughts are.
Because this is a brand new website (as of 7/30/2021), I’m still maneuvering my way through new waters, so please excuse the varied changes that my site may go through. You may view each of the books I have listed, under “Books”, to get a general idea on the lessons that I teach. Writing out a LP is tedious and daunting so it will be awhile before you see any of my lessons posted on here.
Let me know if you have any questions in the COMMENTS below.
Peace, love, and happiness….Leilani V.
