When I first saw this during my internship as a student teacher a few years ago, I didn’t think much of it until George Floyd’s death. It is now the first thing I teach in my classroom to create a foundational anchor in a student’s mind whenever they read any of the literature I teach. (Prior knowledge would be a history on slavery and WWII) In conjunction with The Pyramid of Hate, I include The Intersectional Diversity Flower. Without a basic understanding of where systemic racism come from, it can get quite chaotic and confusing to a student when presented with questions during a lesson.
